Jamaica

Congratulations to Jamaica for retaining the U16 CNA Jean Pierre Netball Crown. The team looked strong from the opening match and none of the other teams, although competitive, presented any real treat to the Jamaicans.

The centre court players were sharp and their skill level belied their tender age. The defenses were alert and effective, and in the shooting circle when 6ft 9ins Marvadene Anderson was on court, there was clearly no contest. She was started in all the games, by the time the opposition was morally defeated a regular height shooter was introduced, but by this time the damage was done.

The champions had the best goal average in the competition 305 goals for and 94 against. This also earned them the best defending team trophy. Deneen Taylor had the third highest individual score in the shooting competition. Five Jamaicans were listed in the top sixteen players: Anderson, Ashley Henry, Deneen Taylor, Samantha White and Vangelene Williams. Samantha White was also named as Jamaica's Most Valuable Player.

The Team
Marvadene Anderson, Deneen Taylor, Samantha White, Shantel Campbell, Sharesha Richards, Vangelee Williams, Ashley Henry, Britney Bent, Shanice Lee, Shanique Miller, Candice Bryan
