Caribbean Netball Association Under 16 Jean Pierre Championships

This is my first time at a Caribbean U16 tournament. Although the organisation here in Antigua is a mess. I am very impressed by the tournament itself.

The tournament is named in memory of a lady who has touched all of us over 30 in netball significantly. Jean Pierre of Trinidad and Tobago is truly a Caribbean Netball Icon. Her contribution to netball cannot be overstated and at a later date in this blog I will speak more directly to her contribution and that of other Caribbean Netball legends.

About the Caribbean Netball Association Jean Pierre U16 Tournament 2008 - Having not been directly involved in netball for a number of years, I was very disappointed to see that the level of sponsorship, organisation and the like for this Antigua and Barbuda tournament, is still in the stone age. Albeit as it may, the Healthy Lifestyle Programme a feature of the under 16 tournament, is a very useful and innovated addition to the Championships. It gives our young girls the opportunity to develop character and other life skills.

Congratulations to Kathy Harper-Hall and all those involved in the programme.
