Good Going Barbados 7th Place Commonwealth Games

Coach Alwyn Babb has again demonstrated the midas touch. First with our world champion Ryan Brathwaite, now he has carried the Barbadian netballers to their highest placing thus far in a Commonwealth Games. I truly hope that he will be allowed to have the squad for a few years to come so that he can build on what he has started. Congratulations to all the girls and the management. I am happy to see that the defeat from Trinidad in the qualifiers was used as a positive. That it gave you an idea of where you had to go and you had the determination, drive, skill and fitness to do it. Babb you have now started. You have my full support, of course that does not mean I will not speak fair and frank because I will always call a spade a spade. I hope that we can get an executive behind you that is businesslike, that has the capacity to attract the kind of sponsorship investment that Barbados needs to take it to the next level. We have the talent, lets develop it.

Can we just hold the Flowers and Champagne. Congratulations to the Team and Management yes! Midas Touch ? isn't that a bit much? Ryan won one race....how many since then..he certainly needs some sort of touch now....Yes the girls did well, but did it only start this year? Weren't any of them on any team before, weren't they coached before? We wish them all the very best. After all "Barbados Netball" is the Winner when we do well. But let's be fair.Did we have our best team? Where is young Jeneice Clarke in all this? Were the ones that travelled played in best positions, rotated in best way? Why didn't we go after South Africa? We were expected to defeat Papa New Guinea and Cook Islands, but we should have challenged, even beaten South Africa, we were not sharp enough. Please give them time to develop, Give the Coach team to roll out his stratey. Barbados waits with bated breath.
